Instrumentation for Chemical & Petrochemical Plants

Chemical and petrochemical processes demand instruments that withstand corrosive media, elevated temperatures and hazardous areas while delivering stable, accurate signals to the control system. WELK Meters manufactures pressure, temperature, level and flow instruments with corrosion-resistant wetted materials, diaphragm seals and explosion-proof options that serve chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical and metallurgical plants.

Typical Measurement Challenges

Aggressive acids and alkalis attack standard wetted parts. Viscous, crystallizing or toxic media must be kept away from the sensor by diaphragm seals. Many plant areas are classified hazardous zones requiring suitably rated instruments. And level measurement in pressurized reactors and storage tanks needs technologies that tolerate vapor, foam and temperature swings.

Which WELK Instruments Fit

  • Diaphragm-seal and flange-diaphragm pressure transmitters — isolate the measuring cell from corrosive or clogging media; remote-seal capillary versions handle hot or viscous products.
  • Smart differential pressure transmitters — such as the TY813, for flow, level and density measurement, with isolating diaphragm options including 316L stainless steel, Hastelloy C-276 and tantalum for severe services.
  • Explosion-proof pressure transmitters and intrinsically safe options — for classified areas, per the ratings stated on each product’s datasheet.
  • Magnetic level gauges (WKD/C series) — local level indication on pressurized vessels up to 16 MPa, with PTFE-lined and stainless versions for corrosive media, plus level switches and 4-20 mA remote transmission options.
  • Electromagnetic flow meters — PTFE/PFA-lined with Hastelloy, titanium, tantalum or platinum-iridium electrodes for acid, alkali and salt solutions.
  • Thermocouples and RTDs — with protective sheaths in 304, 316 and high-temperature alloys for reactors and furnaces.

Project Experience

WELK Meters’ reference list includes instrumentation supply for chemical plants, a biochemical plant instrument expansion covering level meters, electromagnetic flow meters and control panels, coking plant pressure switches, and transmitter packages for chemical industry customers. Our products are routinely specified with the wetted materials and certificates the application requires — and we never claim ratings an instrument does not have.
