Pressure Transmitter Buying Guide
A pressure transmitter converts process pressure into a standard electrical signal — typically 2-wire 4–20 mA, optionally with HART or RS485 — so PLCs, DCS and recorders can monitor and control a process. How to choose a pressure transmitter
- Measurement type — gauge, absolute, vacuum, or differential pressure. Differential models (such as the TY813DP) also derive flow and tank level.
- Range — select a nominal range so your normal operating point sits in the middle; consider turndown when conditions vary.
- Accuracy — ±0.05%, ±0.1% or ±0.25% for monocrystalline silicon; ±0.25% / ±0.5% classes for compact diffused-silicon types like the TY812.
- Process connection & wetted parts — M20×1.5, G1/2, NPT threads or DN25–DN100 flanges; 316L, Hastelloy C, tantalum or PTFE-coated diaphragms for corrosive media.
- Temperature — direct-mount types serve -40–120 °C; capillary remote-seal versions handle media up to 420 °C.
- Hazardous areas — choose intrinsically safe Ex ia IIC T6 Gb or flameproof Ex d IIC T6 Gb versions with IP66/IP67 housings.
Monocrystalline silicon vs diffused silicon
Monocrystalline (single-crystal) silicon sensors offer superior long-term stability and accuracy and excel in differential-pressure flow and level duty.
